Something Old, Something Borrowed, Something New, and Something Blue

It is the custom in a lot of weddings that the bride wears something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue, and a sixpence (or penny) in her shoe. You might even mark these items on your wedding planning checklist.

OLD:
- Grandmother’s lace handkerchief
- A piece of lace or veil from mother’s gown or veil
- A piece of jewelry

BORROWED:
- Mother’s pearls or earrings
- Mother’s gloves
- Friend’s handkerchief

SOMETHING BLUE:
- Blue-lace garter
- Blue ribbon sewn into the hem of the dress or woven into the bridal bouquet
- Blue lingerie
